TAP: the Italian Govenrment approves the bill for parliamentary ratification

24 May 2013

TAP welcomes the adoption by the Italian Government of the bill for the parliamentary ratification of the IGA, signed in Athens last 13th of February within Greece, Albania and Italy. Already on last February, the Monti government started the process, but the political crisis and the end of the legislature stopped it. The adoption of the text, less than a month since the new Executive was born, represents for TAP the confirmation and the continuity of the Italian support to the project.

Giampaolo Russo, Country Manager TAP Italy said TAP will represent for Italy and for Europe a further step towards diversification of energy supplies. We therefore welcome the support that the Government and the Ministries of Economic Development and Foreign Affairs have given to the project, in view of what will be the final decision of the Shah Deniz Consortium, expected in June 2013. We hope now for a quick and positive conclusion of the parliamentary ratification.
