TAP: safety and transparency in our maritime surveys

03 May 2013

Lecce, Italy - Trans Adriatic Pipeline can confirm that the Company rigorously complied with the indications provided by the local Port Authority.

We are deeply aware of our role in the province of Lecce and we want to underline the important economic contribution, in terms of income and job creation, of this project to the Province of Lecce:
•    Approximately 340 jobs/year (construction phase) and 129 jobs/year (operating phase)
•    Approximately €15 million/year as contribution to local GDP in the Province of Lecce (construction phase) and €4 millions/year  (operating phase)

If we consider the regional view, estimates by Nomisma Energia foresees a contribution by TAP to Puglia GDP equal to €380 million (or €8 million/year), with about 220 new jobs per year during the construction and operation phases and including direct and indirect effects.

TAP  would like all stakeholders to be involved in the project, and therefore aims at building an effective dialogue with various stakeholders, including fishermen in the area. TAP continues to engage with local communities as demonstrated by our recent focus meetings and the compensation for direct damages proposed to the Fisherman Cooperatives Folgore and Delfino. We want to ensure the safeguarding of the eco-system during the design, construction and operation of the pipeline.

TAP is available for any questions or information needed by Authorities on the ongoing investigations.
